HAZWOPER stands for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response. It includes several hazardous waste operations including clean-up operations, operations which involve hazardous wastes, voluntary clean-up operations and emergency response operations. All these courses come under the OSHA standard 1910.120. The main aim and objectives of these courses is to ensure the safety and health of the workers at hazardous working places. There are different types of HAZWOPER Training courses based on the kind of work and the possible hazards involved.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Training: Workers who are involved in clean-up operations, emergency response operations, voluntary clean-up operations, and storage and disposal of management of hazardous materials and uncontrolled hazardous waste sites, they should go for this training as this course can teach them about the careful removal of hazardous materials and ensure the safety and health of the concerned worker as well as his co workers. It suggests ways to maintain a hygienic environment, proper medical surveillance, decontamination, site characterization, control and many more.
  • 24 Hour HAZWOPER Training course: The uncontrolled hazardous waste operation site workers need this course. This training assists in understanding the purpose of OSHA and its function of enforcing occupational safety, use of the site characterization to be aware and deal with the problems that might occur at workplace, understanding the presence of and the elimination of hazardous materials in the workplace.
  • The 8 hour HAZWOPER Training course: This refresher course makes the workers read and understand the OSHA regulations, use site characterization to recognize and reduce hazards, develop a medical surveillance program, understand the principles of toxicology, understand the uses of PPE, etc.
